GLOBAL COORDINATION
Lead for Earth has consistently demonstrated active participation and a strong presence in international climate change and environmental processes, particularly within the United Nations framework. Our involvement is notably significant in key UN conventions and assemblies, including the Conference of the Parties (COP) and the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA). Through these platforms, we engage rigorously in discussions, negotiations, and policy-making, contributing to the global discourse on climate action and environmental sustainability. Our commitment to these processes reflects our dedication to addressing climate change and environmental issues at an international level.
We participated in the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) to host the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 19-22 September 2022.
At COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Lead for Earth Foundation played a pivotal role, hosting events on climate refugees and engaging in crucial policy discussions. The conference's outcomes, including the establishment of a Loss and Damage Fund and a focus on climate finance, have shaped our strategies for future climate action and advocacy.
At the APFSD 2023, Lead for Earth, actively contributed to discussions on SDGs, showcasing initiatives in renewable energy, waste management, and conservation, underscoring the importance of community involvement and education for sustainable development.
At INC-2 in Paris, Lead for Earth represented the youth coalition on plastic pollution, advocating for a life cycle approach to tackle this global issue. Engaging in key discussions, our involvement underscores our commitment to shaping policies for a sustainable, plastic-free future.
At SB58 in Bonn, Lead for Earth showcased its commitment to climate action, engaging in critical discussions on loss and damage, adaptation, and finance. Our advocacy for science-based policies and stronger financial commitments underscored our role in advancing global climate goals towards COP 28.
At the 5th AP Forum in Colombo, Lead for Earth enhanced global environmental governance, focusing on Asia Pacific environmental challenges and contributing to UNEA-6 discussions. Our engagement emphasized evaluating UNEA resolutions and strengthening regional environmental commitments towards the 2030 SDGs.
At the WFF event in Rome, Lead for Earth showcased its commitment to climate action through agrifood systems transformation, emphasizing sustainable agriculture and intergenerational collaboration for a resilient, hunger-free future.
At APCW 2023, Lead for Earth advanced climate action through youth engagement, event organization, discussions, UN collaborations, and advocacy in high-level sessions, setting the stage for impactful contributions at COP 28 and beyond.
At COP28, Lead for Earth significantly contributed to advancing climate discussions, including a memorable collaboration with Indian youth and Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav Ji. Vikrant's impactful speech at the World Climate Summit highlighted the urgent concerns of millions of young people. The summit marked a historic commitment to moving away from fossil fuels, with India playing a crucial role in driving sustainable global initiatives.
